Jerry Dewayne Payne of Midland passed away Saturday, August 30, 1986.  Services were held at Ellis Chapel with the Rev. Terry Chapman of the Parklea Baptist Church officiated with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born September 24, 1936 and moved to Eastland as an infant.  He attended schools in Eastland and Carbon.  After moving to Midland, he graduated from barber school in Odessa in 1960.  He owned and operated Jerry's Barber Shop.  Payne was a member of Parklea Baptist Church, the Jaycees, Optimist Club and on the YMCA Board of Directors.  The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his wife Betty Payne of Midland,; his mother, Mrs. Payne of Odessa; a daughter, Melissa Diane Payne of Midland; a son, Terry Dean Payne of New Orleans; two sisters, Joyce Boles of Odessa and Wanda Shepherd of Las Cruces, NM; and a brother, Ronald Payne of San Angelo.
