Lester Swan

Lester Ray Swan was born July 5, 1947. Lester attended the Carbon School. During those years he was active in FFA, and was the manager of the football team during his time in High School. Lester was drafted into the United States Army. He earned the rank of Sergeant. He served in Vietnam and his company ran escort for fuel tankers and other valuable cargo. He and his men received live fire on almost every escort they made. After returning he and his wife Marylyn were saved and began attending the Northside Baptist Church in Abilene Texas. After receiving a call to the ministry Lester and his family moved to the Fort Worth area and began attending the Trinity Baptist Seminary in Kennedale TX. Lester served as the Associate Pastor in several churches and as Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Coleman, Grace Baptist Church Ballinger Texas, and Merriman Baptist Church in Ranger Texas.  (David, there may be some I did not remember).

Lester passed from this life on August 8, 2021 at age 74 after dealing with bad health caused by agent orange and other health issues.

He was proceeded in death by his fathe, his mother Ethel, two older brothers Jerry and James, his sister, his son Bobby. He is survived by his sons Phillip Swan and his wife Amy, Randy Swan and his wife, and Davis Swan. His brother Jackie Swan and his wife Sharon, his sisters Linda Norris and her husband Danny of Carbon TX,  Martha and her husband Larry of Carbon TX, his grandchildren, a host of family and friends.

Absent from the body but present with the Lord!

Arlina Arnold (Shortnacy) (1967)

So very sorry to hear of Lester's passing.  I have fond memories of Lester and his cousin, Mary Boggs, attending Carbon in the early 60s.  May the good Lord extend peace and comfort to his family.
