Ladell Bethany Tonn, 79, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in August, Texas.  Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday March 22, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland.  Burial was in the Murray Cemetery at Carbon, directed by Bakker Funeral Home of Eastland.

She was born to Elmer and Bessie Lee (Holloway) Bethany on August 12, 1924, in Carbon, Texas.  She grew up in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School in 1943.  She married Leslie E. Tonn on February 17, 1945, in Carbon.  She attended Cisco Junior College and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971.  She was a retired teacher, having taught in Rotan and Ropesville.  She returned to Eastland i n 1987 and moved to Round Rock in 1997.  She was also a homemaker and mother and a member of Bethel Baptist Church of  Eastland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie, and an aunt and uncle, Odell and Emma Bethany.  She is survived by a son, Wayne Tonn and his wife, Beverly of Amarillo; daughter, Marilyn Gladson and her husband, Jim, of San Antonio;  daughter, Sue Holmes and her husband, Patrick, of of Plugerville; two brothers, Joe Bethany of Henderson and Norman Bethany of Redmond, Oregon; a sister, Ruth Guy of Eastland, six grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
