Meredith Black (Baze)

 

Meredith Baze, 82, of Abilene, formerly of Eastland, died Saturday, December 20, 2003, at the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the Bakker Funeral Chapel, Wyley Peebles officiated.  Interment was in Murray Cemetery in Carbon, Texas.

She was born to John L. and Mary (Shuman) Black on July 15, 1921, at Carbon.  She grew up in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School in 1939.  She was a clerk at the Carbon Post Office for many years.  She married Rayneal Baze on June 6, 1950, in Carbon.  They lived in Carbon and Ranger before moving to Eastland in 1965, where she worked as a teacher's aide.  She had lived in Abilene since 1999.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Eastland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayneal in 2000.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, David and Leisa Baze of Clyde; a sister, Duluth Jackson of Arlington; and two greandchildren, Ashley Baze and Justin Baze of Clyde.
