Dwain Jackson

A. D. Jackson, 79, of Fort Stockton, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 in the Midland Memorial Hospital

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Chiurch in Fort Stockton with Rev. Dale Jackson officiating.  Burial followed in the East Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Mr. Jackson was born January 17, 1929, in Carbon, Texas.  He was an Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War.  He married Elizabeth"Doc" Barker on January 19, 1960 in Crystal City, Texas.  He was a retired teacher with the Fort Stockton ISD where he had taught for 43 years.  A. D. had lived in Fort Stockton since 1954, moving from Pyote.  He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Fort Stockton Lodge Number 1022; a member of the Scottish Rite, and York Rite.  He was active in prison ministry since 1992.

A. D. was an ordained Baptist minister, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Doc" Jackson on May 22, 2004.

He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Lee of Sioux Falls, SD and Sandy McFarland of Lubbock, TX; three sisters, Lou Ann Griffith of Midland, TX; Betty Jane Jackson of Dallas, TX; and Patsy Marie Sims of Graham, TX; two brothers, Bobbie Joe Jackson of Odessa, TX and Drew Dan Jackson of Cisco; two grandchildren, Chris Jackson of Ogden UT, and Anthony Jackson of Phoenix, AZ; and two great-grandchildren.
