It is great sadness to inform you of our loss and Heaven's gain of an angel.  Donald Rice (Shasta) was involved in a tragic accident May 9th, 2008.  Please keep us in your prayers.  Shasta was a very smart business man that started his own company in 2000.  He had started with only 1 dump truck and 1 backhoe.  He built this company from a lot of sweat and worries, that all of his employees would be taken care of.  That was my Shasta's main priority, to be able to employ and take care of his family for nothing is more important that family.  We (Rice Family) will continue to strive to keep Shasta's Legacy alive not only with his company, but in our hearts forever.

Shasta proposed to me November 28, 2007, and we planned to be married in July 2008, but God had other plans for my Shasta.  Shasta loved to reminisce about his High School days.  I had the opportunity to drive around the school and other surrounding places that he may not want me to mention.  God blessed me with the times we were driving around and sharing his stories with me.

Shasta will certainly be at the reunion in spirit, I have no doubt.  He would not want any tears.  He told me if he went before I did, he just wanted everybody to kick back and have a beer at his shop.  Oh, and tell all kinds of stories about HIM and they better be good, even if you have to lie.

I came to carbon in the third Grade and Remember Shasta specifically from Football. He was the gentle giant and through the eyes of a third grader HUGE!! I never even knew what football was until I came to carbon and it became a significant part of my education. I can say Shasta had a large part of that and I have many, many fond memories. rest in Peace Shasta from a young fan.
To his family I offer my sympathy and admiration.
