Shirley L. Hogan May Morgan, age 64, passed away Monday, August 24, 2009, at her home.  Visitation was Thursday, August 27, at Summers-Bakker Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Graveside services were held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Murray Cemetery in Carbon officiated by Chad Gosnell.  Shirley LaVerne Hogan was born October 5, 1944, in Gorman, Texas, to Jim and Ella Mae (Petree) Hogan.  She married Gene May in Carbon.  They were blessed with five children.

Family was very important to Shirley.  One of her favorite activities was to have all of the family together and play cards and dominoes for hours.  Shirley played piano and she loved music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene in June 1978; her parents; her two sons, Ronnie and Robbie May; her daughter, Darla Dale; and her two brothers, Lynn and Bob Hogan.  Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sonya Neill of Gorman and Randa Bradley of Eastland; her sisters, Jimmie Kinard of Cisco, Lee Carlton of Eastland and Joann Hull of Brownwood; her brother, Carroll Hogan of Gorman; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
