Arlene Hines McCurry, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers-Bakker Funeral Chapel in Eastland.  Interment followed at Murray Cemetery in Carbon.  The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 29 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Arlene Hines McCurry was born November 25, 1919 in Carbon, Texas to Henry and Willie Hines.  She grew up in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School in 1937.  She attended Texas Tech University where she met Lonnie McCurry.  They were married February 8, 1941 in Washington, D.C.  Arlene spent most of her life making a home for her family while her husband served in the Marine Corps.  They lived in many places including Subic Bay, Philippines, North Carolina, California, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.  When her husband retired from the military they moved to Ausin, Texas.  They lived there many years and then moved to Houston, Texas and later to Missouri City, Texas.  Arlene was a real estate broker in Missouri City with her husband where they owned their own real estate business.

They moved to Eastland in 1987 to take of Arlene's parents.  They bought their home there and enjoyed many years with their family close to them.

Arlene enjoyed many activities but most of all she enjoyed being with her husband of 67 years and her family.  She enjoyed entertaining her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her many friends over the years.

She was an active member of the Abilene Bible Church.

She resided in Valley View nursing home from February 2009 where she and her husband have both been residents.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie; one sister, Marjorie Adair of Brenham, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law Dean and Gail McCurry of Lewisville, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law Dyanne and Doug Thompson of Baird, Texas; her grandchildren are Brad (and Debbie) Thompson of Albany, Bryan (and Charlotte) Thompson of San Angelo, Kaylen (and Nick) Meserve of Dallas, Scott McCurry of Dallas and Kevin McCurry of Lewisville.  She is survived by her great-grandchildrflen, Taylor Thomspon and Tanner Thompson of Albany, Kelsi Thompson and Katie Thompson of San Angelo, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.
