Edith Foster Prewit Kelley

The last year I attended Carbon Schools was in 1947 when I was in the 8th grade. I graduated from high school in Stamford, Texas in 1951. Married high school sweetheart Feb. 23, 1952. Worked as secretary to Chamber of Commerce. Moved with husband and children to Monahans, Kermit, Louisiana, Houston, Midland, Teheran, Beirut and Scotland as he worked for oil companies. Helped care for my children and took colleges courses in lots of towns. I graduated from Tarleton in 1976 and obtained a Master's Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1981. We moved to Hobbs, New Mexico and I worked at New Mexico Bank and Trust. Taught in Hobbs Municipal Schools until 1997. I married Carlton Kelley in 1998. We knew each other from High School. I am a proud grandmother to three grandchildren. The Lord has blessed me and I enjoy friends, family and Church. Joan Mosley is my dear sister. Our oldest son, Joe, was killed in an accident his senior year -- 1971.

I loved Carbon and my friends and teachers. It was great to have Mrs. Beaty out with us when we played baseball. She made it fun. We thought we were great players. Jack Butler put my ponytail in the ink well in class.
