Duluth Black (Jackson) - Class Of 1932

Duluth Black Jackson, age 94, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 in Flower Mound, Texas.  She was born on October 1, 1915 in Pleasant Hill, Texas to John Laud and Mary Black.

Duluth was a 1932 graduate of Carbon HIgh School.  She married T. G. Jackson on October 2, 1937 and she was preceded in death by T. G. after 65 years of marriage.  The Jackson family lived all over including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New York and Australia.  Duluth was an avid writer, poetry was her claim to fame, but she also wrote short stores.  In 1990, she wrote and had published "Little Rabbit in My Garden," a collection of poems written during various times in her life.  Her other interests included Bible Study, PEO, Red Hat Society, reading and spending enjoyable time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Jackson and his wife, Rita, of Flower Mound, Texas and five grandsons, Matthew Eric Jackson and wife, Kim; Mark Stephen Jackson and wife, Shanna; Jacob Scott Jackson, Christoper Clay and wife Wendy and Robert Matthews Clay and wife Amber, and nine great grandchildren.  She leaves her family with a legacy of love and wisdom and a desire to live a similiar life. 

Visitatation was held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home with the funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m.   Graveside services were held at 4:00 p.m. at Murray Cemetery in Carbon, Texas.  Memorials may be made to Crossroads Bible Church or a charity of choice.
