Mildred Marie Cook, age 91, of Gorman, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Gorman. 

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Watson officiating.  Burial followed at Murray Cemetery near Carbon.

Mrs. Cook was born August 30, 1918 to Asa Allen Craighead and Ruth Bennet Craighead on the home place in Eastland County, Texas.  She married Enoch Hooper Cook on November 25, 1937 in Carbon, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1986.  She became a Christian at the age og 10 and was a lifelong member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years.  She graduated from Carbon High School in 1935.

She is survived by four sons, Donald and Fay Cook of Gorman, Weldon and Fredda Cook of Lamesa, Jerry and Martha Cook of Ennis and Lyndal Cook of Snyder; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jimmy Earl Cook, grandson, Tracy Cook, sister, Lavelle Whitehorn, Brother, Doyle Craighead, and daughter in law, Lynda Cook.
