He was born Charles Hoyt Bryant on March 29, 1942 in Gorman, Texas, a son of James Hoyt Bryant and Ruth Elizabeth Hagan Bryant.  Charles was reared in Kokomo, Texas and graduated Valedictorian from Carbon High School.  He then attended Tarleton State University where he obtained his bachelors and masters degree.  On July 27, 1962, he married Patsy Hale in Carbon, Texas and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012.  In 1971, Charles and Patsy moved to Mozelle to take a coaching job.  From that point on, they considered their home in Coleman County.  Charles was a teacher, coach, principal and bus driver for Mozelle for many years.  With consolidation, he became the first secondary principal and football coach for Panther Creek CISD, becoming superintendent two years later.  After retirement in 1999 he returned to the school system working in Novice and Spur ISD before returning home to teach science at Panther Creek.  He was still teaching science at Panther Creek until his illness.  Charles loved hunting, fishing, reloading and attending gun shows.  HIs favorite thing to do was to travel with Patsy, visiting as many of the fifty states as possible.  He also loved watching football and basketball.  As a coach, the highlights of his career were sending multiple contestants to the state track meet, and competing in the 1983 six-man state football championship.  Charles had a special place in his heart for his students.  He loved them all and they were great blessings to him.  Charles was a member and a deacon of the Valera Baptist Church.  His greatest love was his family.  He leaves behind an amazing legacy with his children and grandchildren.
