Darlene Johnson (Basham) - Class Of 1955 VIEW PROFILE

Darlene Johnson (Basham)

Darlene Joyce Basham, age 74, of Eastland, went to meet her Lord on January 17, 2012 at Abilene Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Visitation was held Thursday, January 19 from 6 to 8.  Funeral services were held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland officiated by Bro. Dave Stephenson of Dallas.

She was born on July 21, 1937 in Gorman, Texas to Orval Lee and Mildred Irene Kirby Johnson.  She was the oldest of five children.  She was a member of the Inspiration Church of God in Eastland.  Darlene graduated from Carbon High School in 1955.  She married her high school sweetheart and love of  her life Darrell Gene Basham on August 30, 1956.  Darlene resided in Eastland most of her life.

Darlene had many passions in her life.  Nothing compared to the one she had for her children and her husband.  There was no love purer.  She loved her two grandsons with such passion.  They were the light of her life.  She couldn't wait for the next visit from them.  She loved all of her family with all of her heart.  She couldn't wait for each family get together.  She loved everyone so much.  She loved the holidays because it meant her family would be with her.  Darlene loved to sew.  She loved making things for her grandbabies and her nieces and nephew.  Everything she made was very special and most certainly made with love.  She also had a passion for growing beautiful flowers.  Every flower that bloomed she had to have a picture taken of it.  Darrell's computer has several folders full of her beautiful flowers, so we will always be able to enjoy them forever.  Darlene never went a week without her standing hair appointment  Nothing could stand in her way of having her hair perfect.  She was a beaufiul woman, inside and out.  Anyone that ever met her would agree.  One other thing, she had a knack for being late to everything.  She was told that she would probably be late for her own funeral.  She was a sweeteart and a very special woman.  She will be very missed.  She was the best wife, mom and grandmother anyone could ask for.

Her parents preceded her in death as well as a brother, Gary Lee Johnson.

She is survived by her husband Darrell Basham of Eastland; a daughter, Delaine Vittitow and her husband, Rick Vittitow of Austin; a son, Darrell Basham of San Diego, California; two grandsons, Hatley Vittitow and Charlie Viutitow both of Austin; two sisters, Sharon Russell of Dallas and Judy Willard and her husband Darrell of Dallas; one brother Rick Johnson of the Flatwood Community; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lonnie Joe and Brenda Basham of Buda; five nieces, Monica Basham of Buda, Lisa Torres of mesquite, Stacie Chronister of Buda, Nicole Kittrell of Streetman and Michell Duron of Allen; along with other great nieces and four great nephews and with numberous aunts, uncles and cousins.
